Local Student Draws Attention to
                   #1 Health Care Need

Nisha, a local high school sophomore,
decided it was time to draw attention to America’
s number one health care need.  To accomplish
this goal, Nisha has organized a local 4k walk/run
event for Saturday, April 22nd.

Nisha’s goal is to raise community
awareness about the effects of weight gain on
health and to promote running and walking as a
safe, positive and affordable means for improving
physical condition.

As Nisha observes, more than two-thirds of
adults are overweight.  And, among youth, weight
gain is happening at ever earlier ages with weight
alarmingly higher than a generation ago.

As Nisha sees it, a combination of poor diet
and inactivity have become threats to the health in
our country with millions of Americans at
increased risk for chronic diseases.  With ever
rising health care cost from these chronic
diseases, American businesses are increasingly
placed at a competitive disadvantage.

Can we look forward to Nisha becoming a
future health care leader that helps solve our
nation’s health care needs?  Let’s hope we can.
Our youth are the hope for the future.  We will
need many like Nisha to take on this challenge.

Nisha’s hobbies include running and school
studies.  While school studies might seem an
unusual hobby, Nisha enjoys school and hopes
her studies will lead to a career in medicine.  With
family living in both Spain and India, Nisha also
considers travel a hobby.  Nisha’s interest in
health care was in part influenced by experiences
shared by her father from his medical practice in
bariatric surgery.

If you’re looking for a Saturday morning
outing, what better way to meet the day than a 4K
walk/run for community awareness?  Let’s join
Nisha Saturday morning and thank her for
reminding us of what we need to do.
