What I Like About My Concierge Doctor

1.   Knowing I can contact her through email, phone or an appointment when needed is invaluable.  I call
her my security blanket.  She always gets back to me with helpful information.  With my previous doctor, I
could leave messages and wait a week for an answer.  With both allergies and autoimmune conditions, I
need answers quick or else I’m off to the emergency room.  She promptly researches my questions and
explains what I need to know in a way I can understand.  And, it’s never like I’m a bother.  She is so
knowledgeable and well connected to outside resources I need.  She has become a vital part of meeting
my health needs.  I am so grateful for this relationship. She is so personable and easy to talk with.  At
first I wondered if a doctor with more time for me would really make a difference.  I now know it’s worth
every penny.  She is a caring doctor in today’s complicated and impersonal medical world.

2.  I had been with my doctor for 12 years before she suggested I consider her new practice style which
offered more time for my needs and advanced preventative services.  At first I wasn’t sure her new
approach was worth the additional fee.  Fortunately I gave it a try and have been so glad I did.  She now
spends much more time with me at my annual checkup and even more if I need her in between.  I call or
email and usually get a reply the same day.  At age 63, I value quality of life.  Having a doctor as a
trusted health care mentor is as good as it gets.

3.  Our family doctor switched to a concierge practice after being with her a decade.  We stayed with her
because she was so knowledgeable and nice.  As the years went by, we noticed the time she set aside
for appointments kept shrinking and the look in her face one that said “I’m really tired.”  We had heard
about other doctors burning out in private practice and jumping to jobs at the hospital.  Honestly, we
were expecting her to do the same.  It was such a pleasant surprise to learn that she was changing her
practice to a slower pace where she would be able to again spend the time needed.  In short, she was a
wonderful doctor before and even better now.  She again has time for us the way she did so many years
ago.  We really appreciate that.   We can now email, text or call her directly on her cell phone.  It’s hard
to put a value on peace of mind.  It’s definitely worth the monthly fee.

4.  I’ve always felt like my doctor and I had a special relationship.  Granted, fighting a chronic illness has
put me in her care more often than most and perhaps that has been part of it.  Having worked in another
doctor’s office for many years, I knew the extra time she took was never paid for by my insurance.  When
she told me about her new practice I knew I wanted to be part of it.  Finally I have a physician that can be
paid what she’s worth and that I can count on for many years to come.  She is just so wonderful!

5. I knew from the first appointment that this person I had been referred to as a concierge doctor was a
gem.  During my first year she diagnosed problems no others had mentioned.  I feel much better, I feel
confident that I can make trips now and love the way she celebrates my successes.  She’s there when I
need her – often answers the phone herself.  I now have peace of mind when traveling outside the
country.
